tables_Motor Vehicle Production in Poland in SEPTEMBER 2026
Published: 25-10-2026
We present the results on PRODUCTION of MOTOR VEHICLES and ENGINES for MECHANICAL VEHICLES in POLAND after the first nine months of 2026, based on data from the Central Statistical Office (CSO)'
Vehicle production in Poland shows mixed results in the first nine months of 2026
Vehicle production in Poland developed unevenly during the first nine months of 2026. Passenger car production declined compared to the previous year, while the production of commercial vehicles, road tractors and vehicles for public transport increased.
Between January and September 2026, 193,951 passenger cars with all types of powertrains were produced in Poland. In the corresponding period of 2025, production amounted to 227,786 units.
This represents a decrease of 33,835 vehicles, or 14.9% compared to the previous year .
In September 2026, passenger car production reached 23,179 units , down by 5,984 vehicles, or 20.5% compared to September 2025 .
Production of passenger cars powered exclusively by combustion engines amounted to 69,367 units between January and September 2026. This was 8.1% less compared to the corresponding period of 2025.
For the comparable January–August period, production in 2026 included:
Passenger cars with powertrains other than combustion-only therefore accounted for approximately 65.4% of total passenger car production between January and August 2026. Combustion-only passenger cars accounted for approximately 34.6%.
The “other powertrains” category covers passenger cars that are not powered exclusively by a combustion engine. The available dataset does not provide a separate breakdown for battery electric, hybrid and other individual powertrain types.
Between January and September 2026, Poland produced 240,686 commercial vehicles and road tractors designed for semi-trailers . The category includes light and heavy commercial vehicles, including vehicles with a gross vehicle weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes.
Production increased by 8,640 units, or 3.7% compared to the corresponding period of 2025 .
In September 2026, production reached 30,314 vehicles , representing an increase of 1,113 units, or 3.8% year on year . [GUS Produk...wer Drives | Excel]
A total of 4,829 vehicles designed to carry at least 10 people were produced between January and September 2026. This was 233 vehicles, or 5.1% more than in the corresponding period of 2025 .
In September 2026, production amounted to 443 vehicles, which was 15.8% less than in September 2025 . The positive cumulative result for the first nine months was therefore largely supported by the production performance recorded earlier in the year.
The results for the first nine months of 2026 indicate diverging trends across the Polish vehicle manufacturing industry:
Between January and September 2026, 1.521 million engines for motor vehicles were produced in Poland. This was 122,400 units, or 7.5% less than in the corresponding period of 2025 , when production totalled 1.643 million units.
In September alone, production reached 172,500 engines , down by 36,400 units, or 17.4% compared to September 2025 . The year-on-year decline recorded in September was therefore more pronounced than the decrease for the first nine months as a whole.
A total of 1.520 million diesel engines were produced between January and September 2026, compared to 1.561 million during the same period of 2025. This represents a decrease of 41,900 units, or 2.7% .
In September 2026, diesel engine production amounted to 172,500 units , down by 27,000 units, or 13.5% compared to September 2025 .
Only 1,000 petrol engines were produced in Poland between January and September 2026. In the corresponding period of 2025, production stood at 81,500 units.
This represents a decrease of 80,500 units, or 98.8% . No petrol engine production was reported between July and September 2026.
As a result, the production of engines for motor vehicles in Poland in 2026 was almost entirely concentrated in the diesel engine segment.
The decline in total engine production during the first nine months of 2026 resulted mainly from the near-complete discontinuation of petrol engine production, accompanied by a more moderate decrease in diesel engine output. Despite the decline, the scale of diesel engine production remained high, confirming the segment’s dominant role in Poland’s motor vehicle engine manufacturing industry.
